Poll: Lent

What are you going to do?  Are you giving something up?  Doing something charity wise?  Doing something to better your life?

** Disclaimer**  Most of our friends are doing something regardless of religion so I thought this was a safe poll.

Re: Poll: Lent

  • definitely a safe poll!  I'm Jewish, so I don't typically give anything up.  I'm still having a hard time keeping up with my New Year's Resolution (go to the gym 5 times a week and give up fried food!).  What are you giving up or doing?

  • I don't make resolutions and I don't give up things for Lent. If I want to make a change I'll just make it whenever I feel it needs to be made. I've given up soda and try to make sure I'm eating more fruits and vegetables.
  • Maybe not so safe????  lol

We are not giving anything up actually.  We instead are going to start doing couples devotionals together.  We have a book that we bought a while ago so we could do this and never did so we are going to do it now.  Then we are also going to start going to the gym.  We haven't decided how often yet, but its going to happen... it has too!

Also, no you shouldn't need a certain time of year to do these things - we can and should do them whenever the mood strikes us, but for me personally it is a time to focus on things that are important and can help me in whatever way to focus on my relationship with God.
  • See, I'm not religious at all.  I believe in a higher power, but I don't believe in or follow organized religions. I have faith in my own ways. I just feel that a lot of people, not necessarily anyone on here, feel forced to have a resolution or give up something for Lent. In turn, many people fail and beat themselves up over it when the time may not have been right.

Totally not offended or anything. Just to clarify. :o)
