DH is gonna drive me insane!!!
So for weeks DH and I have been talking about taking the kids on a cruise to Jamaica and the Caymans the days prior to Thanksgiving and having his family join us. This all came about after we tried to get everyone together to rent a house in Gaitlinburg but my SIL sent out a nasty email that they could not do that because of the timing and cost. Whatever. So we took the cruise venue until last night. No he wants to just fly into West Palm Beach and visit his family. That is fine and dandy but that also means that I will get stuck COOKING T-DAY DINNER for everyone. I love his family dearly but I was looking forward to some R&R with just DH and DS's as this year is going to be crazy.
Maybe I will investigate hanging out in the keys for a bit before hand ..... see if that will fly or not.
Does anyone elses DH do this to them????
Re: DH is gonna drive me insane!!!
actually, every year I have planned ALL of our vacations because I'm a planner and I actually find researching travel options fun. This year, DH finally asked if he could please pick the place where we go for our big annual trip. So what does he do, he picks Cancun where we just went!! So much for planning a fun, new experience for us! I guess it's good that he was decisive though. I'm the most indecisive when it comes to trip planning--kinda like your hubby, huh!?
The Keys are awesome. DH went to law school in Miami so we had the opportunity to go to the keys a few times. Even though I can't remember exactly where we went, I do remember that we rented bikes and road around Key West. It was awesome! It's very safe and very small, which made getting around easy. We saw the southernmost point and had our picture taken there, visited hemingway's house and had a drink at Margaritaville (that was before we got one here in Vegas!). Otherwise, we did a ton, I just can't remember the specifics. The only thing I didn't like about the keys was the beach. They weren't the nicest beaches, so we didn't do a whole lot of swimming.
Check out tripadvisor. I looked into going back to the keys last year and found a ton of recommendations and trip ideas from the Key West board. (Of course, there are many different keys you can visit, Key West just seems to be the most popular with the most stuff to do--perfect for kids, IMO).
I so wanted to hang DH when he decided he did not want to do the cruise. Fine, the kids and I will summer of 2009 by ourselves then. I think we will do about 3 or 4 days in the Keys before hitting WPB for T-day at the IL. If you think of anything in the Keys, snorkeling especially, let me know. I am going to definitely check out trip advisor though.
So, DH wemt to UM to law school? My DH is a UF alum and we are such a big Gator family.
Yep, he's a UM grad, but the hurricanes have let him down lately. His best friend is a FSU grad, so they have a little rivalry going!
Good luck with the trip planning. I'm jealous, I love Florida and the Keys.
