My husband and I just moved here and are looking for fun, inexpensive things to do. We like to do just about anything. We would like to find some things to do with our dog too. Where are some good dog parks at?
Re: Just moved to Hampton
Hello. Welcome to the area! We have been to two of the dogs parks in the Chesapeake. It looks like there are two parks in Hampton.

You can take your dog to VA Beach till Memorial Day. We have a lot of fun taking our dogs to the beach. hth
I heard from a friend the dog park at Buckroe is closed. I don't know if it's forever or just maybe until Summer.
There is a dog park at Sandy Bottom, but we haven't looked into it yet. There is a one year tagging fee, but it's pretty cheap, and a lot cheaper than Newport News charges.
What part of Hampton are you in? I'm in Yorktown and there are a lot of free things to do especially once it warms up. We do a lot of stuff in NN, around City Center and Port Warwick, but Hampton has the block parties start up in the Summer and there's free concerts, etc all around town.

We live in Gloucester (just north of Yorktown). We've taken our dogs to Sandy Bottom Nature Park in Hampton (right off of Big Bethel). There is a tagging fee, but it's only $5 I think, so not too bad. They have a pretty neat nature trail, and a big dog park where dogs can play off leash. Also, when it gets a little warmer, you can rent a paddle boat or jon boat and go out on the lake to fish or just hang out. GL!
I think Sandy Bottom is off of Big Bethel near where it crosses 64.
We like the paddle boats you can rent at Newport News Park and the trails they have. The Virginia Living Museum is cool and there's the Mariner's Museum that has a walking/hiking trail around the lake that's right next to it.
