I don't wanna be here ....
at work this morning!!! When I left home, DH and DS's were all still sleeping. That is not fair
Can I go home now???
How was everyone's weekend?
Re: I don't wanna be here ....
Our weekend was alright. We went out a lot. Friday night we went and played trivia and had an appetizer and a drink. Saturday was date day. OMG it was so fun. We haven't done that in a long time it seems like - where we just took time for us. So we went to lunch. He took me to see 27 dresses (so cute) and then went shopping for shoes for me. (I broke my heal on the way into the mall. But I didn't find any that I loved) Then home to change - and back out for dinner. We went to a little restraunt and it sucked... three time they screwed up a burger. Come on really??? Anyway, so then home. Sunday we got up and went to church. Then starbucks and shopping for a pair of boots for DH. He decided he was on a mission to find them and he went to 6 stores. Yes you read that right... he went to 6 stores before he finally found a pair that he wanted. I guess in the end it paid off because we ended up saving $95 on his shoes. So then off to watch the football games the rest of the day.
Kim did you guys do anything fun this weekend?
Let's see, what did we do this weekend ....
Saturday I took DS to get measured for his swim team parka and warm-up suit which set me back $300 then DH and I went off to DMV to transfer my tag from old car to my new Acura TL (I hate DMV) then we went to dinner and Coldstone. Boring night cause then we went home and I went to bed
Sunday, lazy AM to start and then off to the grocery store for a $300 run (about a weeks worth in our house) and then DH and DS went off to Red Rock hiking while I stayed home and cleaned. Sunday night is mandatory family dinner night in our house so I made a turkey breast, stuffing and stuff then we all sat and watch Extreme Makeover Home Edition before I went to bed.
Boring weekend!!! I relish these weekends actually because they are getting ready to get really crazy with high school swim season starting AND the year round league swim meets. Good golly Miss Molly!!!
As of now, they are all still snoring up a storm whereas I have been up since 5:00AM and am nursing my 3rd cup of coffee as my arse does not want to get moving this morning. My mind is stuck on somehow trying to pull a vacation together for DH and I this July. He wants to drive the CA coast and I want to go on a cruise to Mexico. I am betting he is going to win though if we do anything. Have to wait and see if DS is actually going to Holland first cause if he is, we are BROKE for sure then.
I guess they all have the day off today for MLK? Coffee that sounds good... I haven't been motivated to even go down and make some of that. lol
I am stuck on the vacation thing too. We've been talking about it a lot lately, which made me realize that no mexico or cruise is in our real near future. I forgot that neither of us have gotten passports. Well he needs one period and I would have to update mine... which in turn would mean that I would have to find the marriage certificate - which I have no clue where it is. I thought about looking into San Fransico again since we didn't make it on our honeymoon, but would also like to do something totally different. You guys can come to Dallas and have a personal guided tour. LOL
Who's going to Holland and why?
My DS was nominated to be a swimming representative of the US to Holland this summer for the Friendship Games. All we know right now is that it is $5K for him to go. The big meeting is 2/6 and I keep telling DS not to set his hopes as I think that there is something we do not know yet. If it is truly a matter of the $5 and his GPA, he is going and I am NOT going on vacation. We shall see.
DH keeps telling me we really need to not look at vacations with two college tuitions coming up rather quickly - oldest DS is looking at Univ of Utah and Univ of Wyoming whereas SD is looking at Univ of Maine. OUCH - estimating a combined tuition bill of $35K a year for the two of them. Not sure how we are going to do this yet either, LOL. I told DH that if we have to wait until they are out of college for a big vacation, that is fine but we will be heading on a Mediterranean Cruise with a week in Europe following the cruise then - petty cash!!
You need to tell DH that you need to come to Vegas Lace!!!
That's awesome about your son! So you think there is a catch or what? Is he going alone or would you or DH be going with? What an awesome experience for him. Hope it turns out to be a good deal.
And the part about what DH is saying... point taken, but just because you go on vacation doesn't mean that it has to be an enormous amount of money either. You need to do something special for the two of you also. I think that the whole mediterranean thing sounds like a plan - can you stoe me away on that one? LOL
And us coming to Vegas... he would love to. We talked about it a little last night, but the next few months especially are going to be nuts - so whether it happens or not is another story. I looked a few weeks ago and couldn't find anything for less then $1500 - then on top of that you've got food and more importantly gambling ... So we'll see. I know we'll make it out here one of these days though. It just may not be until next year.
You need to tell DH that you need to come to Vegas Lace!!!
You know when something sounds to good to be true that there is normally something in the hiding. I told DH that I think that there is something here. I know DS high school swim coach is the one who nominated him and all but I worry about the lurking surprise. It would be an opportunity of a lifetime for him. He would be traveling with a delegation from Southern Nevada (many sports are involved) and we would not be going. That is the one thing that scares me the most - him traveling internationally with strangers and such that I really do not know. Guess they would become my best friends really soon though. DS would be in Holland for 10 days - 2-4 days training with the Dutch swim team and then the Friendship Games are the remaining time. The money is not an issue for us at all, I just worry about what they have not told us. Guess I won't know this until 2/6 though at the meeting.
DS really earned this and deserves it. I only wish I could get my younger DS to figure out what he wants to do besides skateboarding and playing the damn PS3!
