Plane tickets

Does anyone have any recommendations on how to get good deals on airline tickets? Who do you have the best luck with, etc.?

Re: Plane tickets

  • Depends on where we are going .... sometimes I go on hotwire and others the actual carrier sites.
  • I generally hit all the websites to be honest.  It's just a matter of who has the deals that week.  Expedia, travelocity, cheaptickets are all generally good ones to hit up.  Oh and don't forget southwest and some of the other small airlines.
  • I use www.kayak.com because it combines most all of the websites and tells you where is the cheapest place to book.  DH and I have been using it for about a yr now and it is great!

  •     I usually search on expedia to see who has the best rate and then book directly through the airline. Sites like expedia and orbitz usually tack on extra fees.
  • jet blue...where ya goin' kor??? :o)

  • Pennsylvania, good to see you HB.

Is it best to book early or wait until 1 - 2 weeks out. I have had some people tell me to wait until the last minute and that is how they get great deals, but it freaks me out.
  • in  my experience, i usually get the best deals when i book early unless they end up running some freak sale at the last minute. you never get any advance warning on that though....good luck :)

  • Airlines usually release additional tickets for flights on Wed.  I usually fly Southwest and book directly with them

    Good Luck :0)
