Going to Cancun!!

I posted an AW on the travel board here, but I just couldn't help but spread the news to my local ladies.  I'm SO excited!  So DH and I just came back from Cancun a few weeks ago.  We went for a conference he was attending, so while I spent my entire days on the beach and in the pool, DH was stuck in the conference each day until about 1pm.  Even though he had limited time to enjoy Cancun (we were only there 4 nights), he fell in love--"the perfect mix of relaxation and partying."  So each year we plan our anniversary trip well in advance so that we can get some sweet deals.  I told DH I wanted to start planning and asked for his input.  Suprisingly, he wants to go back to Cancun!  I had my hopes set on Aruba, but I, too, enjoyed Cancun and figure that as long as he as happy, I'm happy.

So here's the cool part--we got an AWESOME deal!  $199 a night for both of us (not per person, $199 a night TOTAL) for Dreams Cancun all inclusive.  Dreams was next door to the resort where we stayed last time and it's an absolutely perfect location.  I scored the deal on hotwire where I was forced to book blind (Ididn't know the hotel until after I paid).  After doing some research I was able to determine that it was Dreams before I booked, so I scooped up the deal! We are SO excited!!!!!!  Now who wants to come with? ;)

Re: Going to Cancun!!

  • OMG, what a killer deal!!!  I wanna go =)  We wanted to go to Cancun for our first anniversary but it looks like we will be spending it here at home instead.  Damn it - EDR was my choice for a nice getaway.  How about I just hide in your luggage instead???  Have an amazing time and we expect to hear all about it.
  • ME! ME! ME!  I want to go.  If I promise to be good can I go too?

I've had great success with hotwire.  We booked a hotel in the area for our "we are getting married party" (we didn't have bachelor or bachelorette parties) and we booked it that way.  A really nice hotel walking distance from where we wanted to be that is normally $250 a night... we paid $65 including taxes for the night.  It was awesome.  I don't know about as awesome of a deal as you got but that's great!  I'm so jealous!

We can all go!  To be honest, DH actually prefers going places in groups.  Even on our honeymoon, we kept turning to each other to say "this is great, I wish our friends could be here to see how much fun it is" or "wouldn't it be fun if ______ was here!"  Sad, I know, but we just like to be social.  We are hoping to meet other folks in Cancun to hang out with!

Plane tickets are a little high right now, so I'm waiting on this.  I want to kick myself for not booking the $240 r/t tickets I found this past weekend!

And I agree on hotwire, as well as priceline.  I just freaking love those websites.  As long as I know where I want to stay and am able to narrow it down to that specific area, I am totally game for booking blind on either website.  So far I've never been disappointed (knock on wood!!).

  • I wanna go on a vacation now =)  Wonder if I can find a sweet deal for the last weekend of July to Mexico at an AI for DH and I.  If you see anything let me know!!
  • Kim I was online a few weeks ago looking... or well dreaming maybe... anyway I found a bunch of stuff that had really good deals.  I was looking end of May beginning of June more but if you guys are planning on doing a trip for your first Anniversary I would totally check it out.  The other thing my mom suggested to me is just be open to going wherever and schedule the time off from work and do a last minute deal from one of the sites.  There are always great deals that way.  Personally I thought it was a great idea.
  • That is a good idea!  Unfortunately we are confined to the last week of July as the kids will be with their dad.  I might have to go and check out hotwire and see what I can find.

  • Dude, that is so awesome!
  • WOW!!!  That is fricking amazing!  I'm envious, I must admit.  :)  You guys are going to have a blast.
