I have to have a biopsy

On my thyroid. Joy. I have some giant nodule on my thyroid gland and my endocrinologist is concerned that it *might* be cancerous. I seriously do not want some giant needle going in my throat, much less while I am awake. I laughed at the endo when she said that she is wanting the biopsy because I am so young, she's worried it could be cancer. She seemed put off by my laughing and I'm not really sure why I laughed. Oh inappropriate reactions.

Re: I have to have a biopsy

  • And when I say giant I mean over 1 cm, close to 2 cms, which is considered overly large. According to the Dr., anyway.

Uggh!  That's nuts.  When are you getting it done?  Can't they put you to sleep or something??

  • OMG, RSP let us know how it goes!!!  Make sure to get some good relaxing drugs first cause lordy, they would not want to come near me with a  needle like that without some =)  BTW, who is your endo?  I am looking for a good one but they are so far and in between in this town.

Sending big Vegas knottie hugs ....

  • Just an FYI if you don't want to know when they are coming at you with that needle they can give you drugs for it.  I have a good guy friend that I swear lives at the doctor lately and he's the biggest baby about that stuff so he always gets put out, and it's never a big deal.

Anyway, I'm sorry that you are going thru this.  Do you have any idea when it's going to actually happen?  You are in all our thoughts and prayers girl.
  • It's on the 25th. Needles don't really bug me, but I'm just not looking forward to pain. Blah.

My endo is Dr. Serena Klugh. She works out of two offices, one on Sunset and one out at Summerlin Hospital. Dr. James Snyder was another endo recommended to me.
  • Oh my goodness RSP.  I hope everything's as normal as can be.  You'll be in my thoughts.  ((hugs))
