DH job moving us to Davenport.....

We were there this past week to visit and hung with a realtor for half the day.  We liked the Bettendorf area and may possibly look at Le Claire also.  What do I need to know about the area.  I am an RN so can basically do whatever.  We are coming from Omaha.

Re: DH job moving us to Davenport.....

  • Bettendorf and LeClaire are nice areas.  There are alot of things to do. There are about 3 hospitals in the area too. I am sure you guys will enjoy it here. I love living here. The Illinois side is really nice too.

  • I moved here from Lincoln 5 years ago, and it is fairly similar, the whole area is about the same size as Lincoln, there is tons of stuff to do, there are festivals about once a month (sometimes more often) in the summer.  On the Iowa side there are three hospitals, Genesis East, Genesis West and Trinity at Terrac Park (which is in Bettendorf)  I live in Davnport, and I like it, and I have a few friends in Bettendorf, and they like living there.  If you have any specific questions, post them, I will try to check back and answer them.  I don't come here very often since it is kinda dead.  :)
  • I feel like Bettendorf/LeClaire are places to live, but for shopping, entertainment, etc. you will be in Davenport (at least on the Iowa side).  Of course they are all nice places to live - I've been here all my life...low cost of lilving, low traffic, easy access to some bigger cities...you shouldn't have a problem finding a job...and if you want to go bigger than what the QCs have to offer in regards to nursing, the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics are less than an hour's drive away.
  • Don't count out Eldridge, Long Grove, and/or Park View.  They are a cluster of smaller towns less than 10 miles north of Davenport.  The school system is among the best in the state and they are really nice, safe towns.  We moved here less than a year ago for DH's job and absolutely love it.  If you're going for small town feel but great proximity to all the fun stuff in the QCs, you might look into it.
