Thank you very much for your response to my RE post.  It looks like Dr. Ellen Hayes, Dr. Paul Robb and Dr. Estil Strawn are all covered in my insurance plan. Seeing as you have seen all 3, which did you prefer?  Was it different seeing a male RE than a female one?

TIA for your response.

Re: ***itsmevkb***

  • I have a male ob/gyn so seeing a male RE was no big deal for me.

Dr. Robb and Strawn kind of come together.  At the Froedtert clinic you don't get to pick which doctor you see except for maybe your consultation.  After that you just see whatever doctor happens to be working that day.  So, Dr. Robb may do your ultrasound but then Dr. Strawn does your iui.

I only saw Dr. Hayes for a consultation but she seemed nice and fairly sympathetic to our situation.  I have a friend who saw her for all her testing and she really liked her.  Since you have insurance her somewhat higher prices won't be an issue.

Between those options I would probably pick Dr. Hayes.  Although I like Dr. Robb something about Dr. Strawn just rubbed me the wrong way and I stopped trusting his advice for us (which ranged from just keep trying for another year and it will probably happen to you should have gone straight to ivf).

Oh, and if you're going to do ivf I would ask Dr. Hayes what her success rates have been.  Her clinic hasn't been around long enough for the success rates to show up on the cdc or sart web sites.

You could also schedule consultations with both Dr. Hayes and either Dr. Robb or Strawn and use that to figure out who you are more comfortable with.  I think that's the most important thing, that you trust and feel comfortable with your doc.

Good luck and page me if you have any more questions.  Keep us updated on your progress.

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then success with condoms! Who would ever have guessed.
