I just wanted to respond to your post that was in my post. DH had a successful surgery, which to us is they were able to close off some of the veins. He had some pain previously and the surgery has cleared that up. Unfortunately, we have still been unsuccessful. We plan on going to an RE once we hit the 2 year mark which is coming up in May. I just need to find a good one. I wouldn't consider his urologist the greatest. He pretty much did the surgery and said good luck and that now that DH is 'normal' we should TTC for another year and then go see an RE after that. For starters, I think he is full of crap. We had one follow up visit and that did not include a SA. He pretty much told us to go back to my dr for that. His surgery was in November, so we will continue on until May. We'll see what happens.
Let me know how your follow up goes. I know there are a lot of successful people out there after their DH has had this surgery.
Re: NYBrideInWI
DH really likes his urologist. When we went in for the consult with the urologist in November he scheduled the surgery for January and told us to take a break from TTC until our follow up in April. DHs numbers were so low we really had no chance of concieving - that might sound harsh written here but it was really liberating for me to have the doctor say that - it was like a weight was taken off and I could relax for a few months. He said if the numbers really improved at the April SA we could try on our own for 3-6 months and then we should consider moving on to IUI, or that if there was only a marginal improvement by April we could go right to IUI. He only recommends a few IUIs before moving on to IVF.
We'll be at the 2 year mark in August - which is probably the earliest we'd start IVF. We're OOP and started saving towards enough $$ for 1 round at the same time we decided to go ahead with the surgery.
