Re: Lake Geneva Questions...

  • Hi,
I don't have a whole lot of information for you, but a few years ago DH and I went to Lake Geneva for a day trip. We enjoyed just walking around the lake. There's a little nature preserve with a trail that was pretty. We also really liked visiting the Observatory. It was closed the day we were there, but the building itself is gorgeous. And in the spring all the trees were flowering. Very lovely.

    Have fun!

  • I got married out there, and live about 30 minutes away, so we go a lot.

The streets are quaint, and it's fun just to walk around the town.  There are a ton of little shops, some spots to grab coffee, and restaurants Mia Bella Bistro is cute).  It's nice to walk by the water.  If you want more action, you can rent a boat to take out on the lake, take a lake cruise, and I know they used to rent jet skis.  There is a large waterpark hotel nearby (the Grand Geneva), but you'd have to drive into town (just a couple of minutes).  There is also a beach for swimming right in town.  The Grand Geneva also has a spa, if you'd like to just pop in for a massage or something.  The observatory is a beautiful building to walk around at, I've also never been inside, but we had our wedding pics taken there (a few in bio), that is a few minutes out of town as well.

I don't usually stay over in town, so I don't have any specific hotel rec's, but there are quite a few b&b's to stay at.  I loooove Lake Geneva.  (I had my reception at The Abbey Resort, also beautiful, but a bit farther out past town.)

  • Oh, and the Grand Geneva has horseback riding and golfing, too.
  • I believe Mia Bella is closed.

Medusa's is expensive but really really good!

It's less expensive to not stay downtown especially in summer.  But convenient if you're planning on bar hopping.  If you have any specific questions on anything you can email me:  nest_stiney at yahoo
