sportymama-
I heard that maybe you were diagnosed with single umbilical artery when I posted on the 3rd tri.
I just got the news from my level II ultrasound and now i am due in every 4 weeks to check on growth. I am just curious about your experience..... tia
Re: *******sportymama*****
Yes, my daughter was diagnosed with SUA at my big u/s (I was about 20 weeks at the time) I was very upset and worried when they told me, but the doctor assured me that they would monitor everything and that the chances of having a completely healthy baby were very good. I guess 1 in ever 100 babies has SUA.
I, like you, had an u/s every 4 weeks until I delivered. We did not find out the sex of our baby, so that was very difficult to have so many opportunities to "find out". On the plus side, you get so many pics of the baby and are able to follow the babies grow so closely.
That being said, I was told that the chances were good that my baby would be smaller and I could deliver before my due date. They said if the baby's growth stopped at any point, I may have to have a c-section. We stayed positive through the whole thing and the doctors were great.
My last u/s was July 5th and at that point the baby was measuring about 5 lbs. My due date was August 3. I continued with my normal appts and things were fine. I actually did not go into labor until August 10th and had her about noon on August 11th. She was perfectly healthy, but smaller for an overdue baby. She weighed in at 6 lbs 5 oz, which was fine by me. LOL!
So, my experience was wonderful. I know how scary it is to hear that everything is not 100% perfect with your pregnancy, but chances are your child will still be perfectly healthy.
Lauren is 19 months old now and sooo active. She is still a bit below the average on weight, but is way up there in height.
I wish you all the best and feel free to page me if you have any other questions.
First off your daughter is beautiful.
I was desperately hoping to hear from someone who had a positive outcome of SUA. I have been trying to educate myself and trying to remain positive, but nothing can replace hearing from someone who has had the same diagnosis and delivered a perfectly healthy and more then full term baby!
Thank you so much for sharing your story with me.
Thank you....I am very excited for you to experience the joy of a child. Like I said before, please page me if you need anything.
Please keep in touch and let me know how things are going.
