or know someone who would want a young WONDERFUL kitty? Her name is Shadow, She's right around a year old. We haven't had the money to get her spayed or de-clawed, so that would have to get done. She is VERY loveable, and very spunky!
DH called this morning, and discovered that my older cat pee'd and pooped ON our comforter. He is old, so I'll probly have to get him put down, not sure yet (bladder/bowel issues). We also have a dog and just can't handle those two cats anymore, and we can't afford to get her spayed and de-clawed, and she's wrecking our furniture.
I really feel horrible already, so please, no flames! We have to do what's best for us, and for the cats, and that's for them to no longer be with us. I refuse to give them to a humane society b/c they will sit in cages and will eventually be put to sleep. I've seen how those places work when it comes to cats (atleast the one's around here anyway), so i'm trying to find a nice home for atleast the younger cat. I don't want to give the older cat to a nice family, b/c I don't want him to ruin your house too with his peeing. He pee's anywhere there is carpet. We thought he was getting better, but after discovering our comforter this morning, DH blew! Please let me know ladies and TIA!
Re: Anyone want....PLEASE don't flame...
I'm allergic to cats and have birds...
Just wanted to say make sure to take your older cat to the vet for a check up before just getting him put down. My sister's cat has peed all over her apartments. Each time it happens, it's because he has a UTI. As soon as that infection clears up, he stops peeing on things.
Also talk with your vet about getting your kitten placed in a new home. They may know of someone who is looking for another cat.

We already have a cat and live in a tiny apartment, so unfortunately I can't help.
But what about just keeping your older cat contained in the laundry room or bathroom or somewhere while you're gone during the day? Make it his own little space with his food, litter box, bed and toys. That way you don't have to worry about him doing things on your bed, etc., but you won't have to put him down.
7.5 years is hardly old for a cat. I grew up with a cat that lived 16 years--and I know over 10 is totally normal for cats.
It looks as though you are a new mom. I was highly annoyed with my dogs when we first had our son but that feeling goes away.
I hope you aren't getting rid of them just because you don't want to deal with them anymore...
I'm very sorry you are going through this. I just wanted to let you know that we had a similar experience with our 6 year old cat. After some Xrays it turns out that he has a Megacolon (yes that is the medical term for it). He is an 18lbs cat with a colon the size of a 30-40lb dog. So he was severly constipated and in a lot of pain. He didn't use his litter box because he associated the pain with the litter box. He was always going on carpet because it was soft and soothing. He actually had to be put under so they could clean out his colon and he is now on medication. He is doing great and is using his litter box again. I know it can be frustrating but there is almost always a medical reason that a cat will stop using it's litterbox. Good luck.
