Getting fitted for running shoes

I don't usually post much (hoping to start a little more), but I know there are some runners on this board.  I am wondering where in the Madison area I can go to get fitted for running shoes.

Thanks!

Re: Getting fitted for running shoes

  • I haven't actually been to either of these yet, but when my PT was fitting my orthodics, she told me that Endurance House in Greenway Station was the best because they do the free gait analysis.  I know there is some other place in town that does that too, though.

Other people swear by Movin' Shoes or Fleet Feet
  • I second Endurance House. I've been to Movin Shoes, which is fine. But Endurance House was able to help me find the right shoe for my supination problem. And the gait analysis was as good as the one given my physical therapist.
  • I live in the Appleton area and we have a store here just simply called Running.  They get you up on a treadmill and take a video of you running so they can analyze your gait and whether you pronate or supinate.  They also let you try on multiple types of shoes and run around in the parking lot with them on.  You look like an idiot doing it, but at least you know if you like how they feel.  There's no charge for any of this, at least there wasn't when I went.  Maybe there's one in the Madison area, if not, maybe next time you're in this neck of the woods you'll have to stop in.  It's on College Ave. in the little strip mall across from McDonald's and right by HuHot.  Hope that helps!
  • I got my running shoes fitted at Fleet Feet on Old Sauk. I really liked the people that work there and there were very helpful!
