baby modeling...

So we have a 4 month old daughter. I know I think shes cute and all but EVERYWHERE we go people stop us to just look at her and we always hear she should be a baby model. I didnt think anything of it I just thought people thought she was cute because she little but this has been going on for months now. I was told about a local agency that another baby in her playgroup is in that seems good and all...but I just think its kinda weird to put a baby in modeling. This is nothing I ever wanted to do myself but I know other moms do it or we wouldnt have those cute baby ads everywhere. She loves the camera and is generally an very happy and easy baby. Has anyone else done this and if so did you like it?

Re: baby modeling...

  • If your baby likes the camera and seems to enjoy it, I don't see how it would hurt to look into it. I have heard that many "baby modeling agencies" are really scams though, so be careful. And I've also heard that unless you live in a major city (NYC, Chicago, LA), the shoots can be rather scarce. Just be careful.
  • Where do you live? I work with a number of model agencies at my current job. Milwaukee has a Ford office, which is the largest national modeling agency and very reputable. I would start with them. If you are in Madison, you could try The Rock Agency, although you will have a lot more opportunities through Ford.. and the Milwaukee and Chicago offices work together a lot.
  • My sister did this with my nieces and they both appeared in ads for Kohl's.  She said the money was okay but didn't stick with it for very long.  I'm not sure what agency she was with but I could find out if you'd like to know.
Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then success with condoms! Who would ever have guessed.

    This Cluttered Life

  • We are in Kenosha.  I think the Ford agency would be a little to much.  We just thought we could see how she liked it.  The agency we were told about is called Jennifer Talent I believe. I know a girl that modeled for them and now her 10 month old is.  Very good company and only a $25 office fee for paperwork to start and thats it.  They work mostly for Kohls.  I think it would be cute to see her in an ad.  I really dont care about the money and its not something we are looking on doing for a long time but we thought we could just see how it went.  Thanks
  • We were in your exact situation. We'd hear from random people at the grocery store that he should be the new Gerber baby. We looked into a few but most seemed to be scams so we just said forget it. Good luck to you though!
  • We got the same thing all the time with DD.  She looked exactly like a Gerber baby (except a cuter version) when she was an infant.  I never really looked into modeling just because we have too much else going on.  There wasn't time to do it with a full time job.

I think it would have been a great way to earn some money to put aside for her college fund.  I don't see anything wrong with baby/child modeling as long as the child is enjoying it.  It can't hurt to look into the agency.  Just remember that no reputable agency will ever charge you to get started.

  • Yes I should of added the $25 is for office fees/a workshop.  It doesnt seem crazy to me to change for that since it is a class but I wouldnt pay for headshots etc...I'll let you know what we find out.
