Do you know anyone got a new job while pregnant?

My husband's insurance is awful and my company offers it up to $500 per month but that doesn't include dental.

I really don't like my job anyway and was going to wait until this child is 6 months old but i don't think I can wait.

I'm just afraid I won't get maternity leave. I also know that some places won't cover pregnancies until 10 months after a start date...

Re: Do you know anyone got a new job while pregnant?

  • Sorry, do you know anyone THAT got a new job while pregnant.

    :)

  • I started at UWC when I was 12 weeks or so. Legally they didn't have to give me any leave (FMLA) because I hadn't worked there a year. I actually freaked out about it and quit after working only 2 days and they told me that it wasn't going to be a problem so I went back.  If you know anyone that works wherever you're applying, see if they can talk to their HR department for you to get an idea of their policies. Also keep in mind that a lot of places require a "probationary period" or something where you can't enroll in the insurance right away. At UWC, and all state jobs, it was 6 months.  We stayed on DHs insurance anyway but I wouldn't have made the cutoff since DD was born on 10/11 and my insurance wouldn't have started until 11/1.

  • I started my job while pregnant.  It really depends on the policy of the particular job.  Good luck!

  • My friend got her new job when she was pregnant.  The insurance covered all medical and she got maternity leave.  It will depend on the company and their rules.
