8. How many hours were you in labor? Everything started around 7:30am, and I had her at 2:40 pm.
9. How many years were you married before having your first? We were married for about a year and a half before we had Savannah.
10. Best piece of advise for a first-time mom eagerly anticipating labor? I loved being pregnant (I was induced because I had been having issues w/ preterm labor and my doc. didn't want me to end up with an infection...) I loved the whole time I was in the hospital. I was really against having an epidural, but I ended up getting one...it was a COMPLETE NIGHT AND DAY difference!!!! I will get another one with my second, for sure. I don't know what else in terms of advice... Good luck! Its really the most incredible experience ever.
1. 24
2. Contractions twenty minutes apart, out of the blue. No other symptoms.
3. 2 days overdue when I went into labor, 3 days when she was born
4. Vaginal
5. Girl, we knew ahead of time
6. They started out as bad menstruel cramps. When they were coming quickly, they sort of felt like a vice grip in my stomach..hard to explain
7. Yes, but after I was in the hospital already.
8. Hmm.depends when you count it from. Here is the timeline: 9:20 pm, first contraction. Midnight: contractions 50 seconds long, 4-5 minutes apart. 2 am, called hospital. 3 am admitted 8:28 am DD was born
9. A little over a year
10. Hmm...make sure to take a picture of your family that first day. We didn't and I wish we had. Also, take ANY help you can get. From anyone. Sleep whenthe baby sleeps. Enjoy it. They are only small once :-)

It didn't. I was induced when we went 12 days past our due date.
3. With your first, where you early, overdue, or right at your due date?
See above.
4. C section or vaginal delivery?
I was started on Pitocin at 3am. After laboring most of the day and pushing for 5 hours, my blood pressure became an issue so we decided on a c-section.
5. Boy or girl? Did you find out ahead of time or was it a surprise?
We had a little girl. We found out at 20 weeks. Both DH and I really wanted to know.
6. What did your contractions feel like?
I'm not a good one to answer this since I never had a contraction until we were at the hospital and then they gave me the epi pretty early on.
7. Did your water break?
No. They broke it for me.
8. How many hours were you in labor?
15 hours. She was born at 6:20 pm.
9. How many years were you married before having your first?
We were married 1 year and 2 months when she was born.
10. Best piece of advise for a first-time mom eagerly anticipating labor?
Enjoy the experience and try to go with the flow. I certainly wasn't planning on a c-section, but in the end it worked out for the best. I know some women get an idea in there head of exactly how their birth experience is going to be and when it doesn't happen they feel disapointed. I had no disapointment that day. Only pure joy. My other suggestion is to take advantage of your time in the hospital. I wish that I would have asked visitors to limit their stays and come only during certain times so that we could rest and work on the BFing. I've been very clear with family about that this time!
I hope the rest of your pregnancy goes quickly and smoothly. It's such a beautiful thing to have a baby. I can't believe I'll be experiencing it all again in less than 36 hours!
2. How did your labor start? I had to be induced because of pregnancy induced hypertention
3. With your first, where you early, overdue, or right at your due date? 3 weeks early
4. C section or vaginal delivery? Vaginal
5. Boy or girl? Did you find out ahead of time or was it a surprise? Dh and I found out, but didn't tell anyone else.
6. What did your contractions feel like? I'm not exactly sure, but I remember they took the breath right out of me and I was very concentrated to breathe through them.
7. Did your water break? No, my doctor had to do it.
8. How many hours were you in labor? About 6 hours from the pitocin
9. How many years were you married before having your first? 4.5 years
10. Best piece of advise for a first-time mom eagerly anticipating labor? I brought a ton of things to read at the hospital, but I was so anxious and excited that I didn't read/look through any of it. I know it sounds cliche, but the time really does go so fast. I remember DD's birth like it was yesterday, and she will be a year on March 17th. Enjoy all of the little things (and the monumentous things too).
1. How old where you when you had your first child? 26
2. How did your labor start? going for a routine dr.appt and her telling me I was dialated and the pains I felt were conntractions so I was sent to the hospital

4. C section or vaginal delivery? c-section because he was breech
5. Boy or girl? Did you find out ahead of time or was it a surprise? Surprise
6. What did your contractions feel like? like a tightning
7. Did your water break? no
8. How many hours were you in labor? about three weeks. I had conntrations on and off and kept dilating slowly while on bedrest in the hospital. The day I finally had him my conntrations were bad and I was dilated 6cm
9. How many years were you married before having your first? 1 and a half
10. Best piece of advise for a first-time mom eagerly anticipating labor? Even though your uncomfortable and eager to have your child please don't wish to have them early, they need lots of time to grow healthy and strong. My son had to stay in the NICU for two weeks after I left. That was SOO incredible hard on me.

3. Early, I was 37 weeks 5 days

7. Yes, see above
8. My contractions started about five hours after my water broke and I had the baby 20 hours after that
9. Not quite two years
10. Have a plan for what you want but be open to having the plan change. If you go into it not being too rigid you won't get upset if things don't go exactly as you thought they would.
Good luck to you!
Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then success with condoms! Who would ever have guessed.

9. How many years were you married before having your first?

10. Best piece of advise for a first-time mom eagerly anticipating labor?
Be prepared for anything. I thought I was going to have a super long labor because that's what everyone says is the "norm" for first time moms. I had my eyes closed the whole time because I was trying to rest in between contractions like they told us in class. I was shocked when the nurse announced "We're going to have a baby before lunch." I thought it was already after noon and had no idea I was that close. 11 hours seems like a long time but it went so fast. The first 5 hours of that were at home, then 2 or 3 in Triage.

10. Best piece of advise for a first-time mom eagerly anticipating labor? I agree with all the PP. Enjoy your baby, try to do kangeroo care as much as you can because they grow up so fast. Have a plan but understand that could change. I did not want a C-section but they told me he was not dropping and that if he went much longer I'd have to have one and I was fine with that. Enjoy your little one and congrats!
I was just wondering if you'd had your baby! You're SO close! Good luck with everything.
1. How old where you when you had your first child? 27

5. Boy or girl? Did you find out ahead of time or was it a surprise? girl - found out at 20 wk u/s
6. What did your contractions feel like? I had back labor, so this isn't typical. I felt like someone was pounding on my back with a huge blunt hammer. Not fun. After the epidural, right before I started pushing, I could feel a little bit of contractions. Those just felt like menstral cramps.

10. Best piece of advise for a first-time mom eagerly anticipating labor?
Go ahead and plan what you want, but be VERY open-minded that things can change and change fast... have the strength and brains to do what is right for your baby.... I thought that I had it all planned out, ready to go, but when my DD's heartrate fell at the littlest contraction, it was MY decision to have a c-section (and I had my heart set on a natural birth) and still to this day, I KNOW in my heart Ani would have been dead if I wouldn't have had that c/s.....
my mom always says "let go and let God...." and know that you are strong enough to get through whatever He hands you!
