Re: Check-In/Poll: Fox Cities Nesties..
Hi! There are a few of us on here, we had a little GTG last week.
1. We live in Brillion, about 20 minutes east, so we don't go out a whole lot over there. There are a few restaurants downtown on College Ave we want to try that I have heard good things about.
2. Yes, we both are, my DH is from Brillion, I am from western WI.
3. We are expecting our 1st at the end of April
4. not sure
5. Any where with no snow and warm temps
6. Walking/biking (in the summer) Reading (when I have time) baking, and I am starting to scrapbook.
7. 1 mile, my parents are 4 hours
8. Bad drivers, self centered people
9. None for tomorrow, my DH is out of town and we have nothing planned for when he gets back.
I am pretty new to the area myself, still learning where everything is - Neenah is south of Appleton. I am getting to know that city better, I recently switched to a new Dr. at Theda Clark (was going to St. Elizabeth's in Appleton)
My aunt & uncle live in WA, in Pullman. We drove through Spokane last summer. I have been out there 5 times, I love visiting WA/ID (I have other family out there in ID too)
GTGs, oh yay!
I suppose I should answer my own Poll:
1. Used to be Champagne Charlies on College -- now I think its gone or changed (?) .. I like Katsu Ya's sushi happy hour. Mmm.
2. I'm from Central WI; DH is from just north of Appleton
3. None yet. The nagging from the families is intensifying, however.
4. There's this adorable coffee shop in Neenah where you can order "cereal" and pour your own cereal from like 15 choices, then top it with any of their toppings (bananas, other fruit, granola, etc). So creative. Either that or the classes you can take at Archivers (MIL, SIL and I made clocks with photos on them just before the holidays last year..)
5. San Francisco & Napa Valley -- have been 'planning on it' for years, haven't made the leap and actually pulled through on it yet
6. Entertaining, Cooking, Scrapbooking, & I just started learning how to knit (easy things, mind you..)
7. currently 26 and 28 hours .. if we moved to the Fox Cities it would be 20 min from his parents; 2 hours from mine
8. People who make lots of noise when they eat; Hearing someone say, "They're so stupid.." (everyone is smart about something.. I know drugs, I don't know squat about stocks&bonds..)
9. Nothing much -- I've been gone for 4.5 months (for work) so we're quite happy just relaxing at home and settling back into being together!

Our Family Blog
1. We don't go out a whole lot (DH often works late), I like Nakashima's & Victoria's though.
2. DH & I both were born & raised in Neenah
3. We have a little boy who turned one last month
4. Hmmm... I don't know. But now I'm really curious about this cereal thing you're talking about! I've never heard of it before...
5. A warm beach, doesn't matter where!
6. Photography, reading, time with my family
7. MIL lives 2 hours away, which is perfect My parents live 5-10 min, which is also perfect (and dh thinks so too!)
8. I have so many, and I can never think of them at times like this... when people say 'eXpecially' instead of especially and other awful mispronounciations... when DH leaves his dirty socks literally 2 inches away from the laundry basket.
9. Work as usual, nothing else really. We've been busy though so it'll be nice to just stay home.
And now the song "Where the Hell is Neenah" is stuck in my head
We'd love to have more people for get-togethers!
1. Favorite local restaurant? The Melting Pot, although that's more of a chain. Kim's Place in Little Chute/Kimberly for VERY local, casual family eatery. The Main Event in Little Chute (aka LC)
2. Are you from WI ? DH? both of us (me from a tiny town around Lake Winnebago), him from LC
3. Have Kids? TTC? No and no. 1 dog (big baby)
4. Favorite local treasure? Not quite sure. LOL
5. If I could go anywhere on vacation right now, it would be anywhere I could lay on the beach with a drink in my hand.
6. Top 4 hobbies. Movies/TV, reading, walking/hiking. Those are the main ones.
7. How close/far do you live from your inlaws? We live in GB actually. In laws live in LC.
8. Top 2 pet peeves. Bad/annoying drivers. Tardiness.
9. Valentine's Day plans? We normally stay home - went to the MP since we were given a gift card.
1. Favorite local restaurant? Not sure yet... we just moved here two weeks ago!
2. Are you from WI ? DH? Both of us are from Michigan, Metro Detroit area. He got a job at Oshkosh Truck so we packed up everything we ever knew and moved out here ! :-D
3. Have Kids? TTC? Not yet... we are planning on having children... or starting to try to conceive in the next year or so.
4. Favorite local treasure? Unfortunately I have no idea... since we've been here I have hardly left the apartment. Our Jeep broke so we only have one vehicle and he drives it to work... so I literally don't know anything around here.
5. If I could go anywhere on vacation right now, it would be _____________. I feel like we are on vacation ... but probably somewhere warm. Wow! It's warm here today... 11 degrees... I'm used to sub zero temperatures lol
6. Top 4 hobbies. Reading, exercising, playing with our new puppy and internet.
7. How close/far do you live from your inlaws? 8 hours which is JUST FINE AND DANDY WITH ME. They still live in Michigan, as does my mom. My dad lives in Germany.
8. Top 2 pet peeves. Noises that come from a mouth (chewing, loud breathing, clicking) and my inlaws.
9. Valentine's Day plans? He got me a puppy, and she's only 7 weeks old so I didn't want to leave her at home while we went somewhere, so we took her with us and got Taco Bell and ate in the parking lot lol. How romantic
We live in Neenah... It's not too bad, it's a whole lot of nothing though. Lots of space. Very nice town though, I have lived in Michigan my whole life and I'm veryy happy we moved here. Probably because we're 8 hours away from his parents hahahaa.
We have GTGs once in a while, probably more in the summer because there's more to do then.
1. My husband and I love Victoria's (downtown Appleton on College Ave.) It's Italian and you get a ton of food for the money!
2. We're both from WI, from around Fremont.
3. No kids yet, just married in Dec.
4. Favorite local treasure is Sirocco's Mediterranean Restaurant, they're a little pricey but they have great entertainment and the tapas are fabulous!
5. Vacation would be back to Mexico, where we honeymooned!
6. Hobbies are scrapbooking, DIY crafts...home improvement, volleyball league, and reading.
7. We live about a 1/2 hour away from either of our parents.
8. Top two pet peeves are drivers who cut you off and really loooong voicemails.
9. For V-day we stayed home and made ourselves a really nice dinner of crab legs, scallops, and potatoes.
The Fox Cities are a great place to move to, it's big enough that there is always something going on, but it's small enough to still feel safe. Neenah, Menasha, Grand Chute, Darboy, Kimberly.....you'll learn all the suburbs after you've been here long enough!!! : )
