Property Management Companies?

Does anyone have any info. on any great property management companies?
My Dh is graduating this June and we are potentially going to be relocating out of state, so I want to be prepared.
We have a 2 bedroom, 1.5 bath, 2-story townhouse, with a small yard/patio and an oversized garage in a small little complex in SE. We want to keep it as a rental but obviously won't be able to manage it from another state.
Any help would be appreciated!
TIA ladies!

Re: Property Management Companies?

  • I don't know of a great one, but I would steer clear of Alpine Property Management.

We rented from them and when their mistake caused half our apartment to flood, they tried to clean it up with a shop-vac.  We had to insist they call a professional to come clean up all the water and it was already starting to stink by the time they did.  I would have been furious if I had owned that unit.

The other units around us were also left empty, sometimes for months at a time.
  • We currently rent from Mainlander Properties and so far I haven't had any problems with them.  They seem to be really good with us and they also seem very considerate of the owner of our condo.  Their website is www.mainlander.com.  Hope this helps!

  • Another not to use- Performance Properties. We used them for about a year and a half and they were a nightmare. Never returned our calls/emails, sent us bills that the tenant incurred and seemed to have high employee turnover. I'd never use them again.

  • I'm not sure if they manage single family homes or just apartment complexes, but you should call Income Propert Management. Great company.
  • We haven't started using one yet, but our mortgage broker recommended Mainlander Properties to us--he has a few properties that they manage and he's been really happy with them.
