Nor Cal Nestie Visiting

Portland next weekend April 4 - 6...we've never been there and I'm wondering if any of you have recommendations for spots to hit while we're there. Any really good places to eat, visit, shop?  TIA!!

  • There's a whole Portland bio -- I think there's a link in the OregonGetaways bio (post below). Any particular interests? Type of food you like? Price range? Style of shopping?
  • thanks for the respond. I'll have to look at that bio.

We want to do something fun on Sat. since we'll be there all day. We enjoy just about anything - maybe start the day with nice breakfast and go from there. We don't mind spending money on a nice meal so $$ is not an object. We love seafood too.

  • Jake's Famous (not Jake's Grill -- same chain, diff. menu, etc) is liked by a lot of people. It's not super fabulous but it's good with lots of seafood and some history. They have a sample menu online. Other restaurants to check out that also have online menus: Hurley's Wildwood Higgins Paley's Place The above are less about seafood and more about local food(they do have local seafood but 1-2 menu items vs lots). If you have time, you might check out the wineries. Rex Hill, Kenneth Wright Cellars, Domaine Drouhin, all have wonderful Pinot Noirs and there are so many wineries in a small area, you can hit quite a few. Hillary Clinton's favorite, when she was in the White House, was a sparkling wine from Argyle.
  • great info....thanks!
