DH and I are going to go camping for our anniversary in May.
We have found some good walk-in sites, but I think we just have too much gear. Anyone know of a good place that you can keep your car with you? Decent bathroom facilities are a huge plus for me!
Re: Good tent camping?
Check out
http://www.oregon.gov/OPRD/PARKS/camping.shtml
for an overview of campgrounds in state parks in Oregon. They should list what facilities they have. Washington has a similar website as well.
Other ones we have enjoyed are Beverly Beach (very popular but nice), Peterson Prairie campground in WA (very basic, may only have pit toilets, but very nice). We haven't tried the new Stub Stewart state park yet, but a friend of mine goes there with her horse and likes it. It's not too far, so might be nice for an initial trip. There's also a great one on the McKenzie river, but I can't remember the name right now.

We want to stay within an hour or two of Portland for this trip. I have looked at the oregon parks website, but it's so hard to tell what the sites will actually be like.
DH wanted to go to Stub Stewart, but it was either RV sites or walk-in tent sites from what he could tell.
beveryly beach, fort stevens, cannon beach.
i think those are my favorites.
fort stevens has a lot of things to see! its probably my #1
I haven't stayed at Stubs Stewart, but I visited recently and the camp sites weren't quite private enough for me. I think once the bushes/plants grow up a bit it will be better, but right now it looks like you have good views of your neighbors
