Repeat:

I posted this a few weeks ago but given Obama's recent visit and the fact that Oregon actually does get to count in the primary this time around, I figured it was a good time for a repeat. TO VOTE IN THE MAY 20 ELECTION, you must register by: April 29 Ballots for the May election will be mailed May 2 (Military / Overseas ballots mailed Apr 4) To vote in the Nov 4 election, you must register by: Oct. 14 Ballots for the Nov election will be mailed Oct 17. (Military / Overseas ballots mailed Sep 19). Oregon has one of the highest voter participation rates in the country. In the last general election (2006), 73.3% of people eligible to vote were registered and 70.8% of registered voters, actually participated in the election. Unfortunately, the majority of those voters were over the age of 35 and a good majority of those, were over the age of 45. If you want electeds to pay attention to YOUR desires (education, healthcare or whatever floats your boat), you need to VOTE. Wonder why social security is an important theme in our national elections but education isn't? Majority rules and statistics will tell you, YOUNG PEOPLE AREN'T VOTING. LET'S CHANGE THAT, STARTING TODAY. Ask your friends if they are registered. If not, help them get registered by emailing them the link for voter registration and stressing how important it is to vote. If your friends are registered, hold a voting party to discuss various views and learn more about various candidates and measures. Encourage your friends to vote and make it fun. Remember, if you don't vote, you haven't earned the right to complain!
