Trick to marking the wall when hanging something.

I already posted this on D&R and received no response so I'm hoping one of you brilliant ladies knows this. I need to hang some wall art and everything has those pre-drilled holes in the back. I remember once reading a trick about how to accurately mark the wall so you know how far apart to place the nails. I think you stick something to the pre-drilled holes and then hold it up to the wall and it marks the wall but I can't remember what it is and its making me nutz.  I remember it was so simple and easy and I know I'm going to feel really stupid when I finally figure this out.

  • Hmm, I don't have any tips, but if you figure one out I'd love to know! Sticking something in the holes seems like a good idea, but you'd still need a level or something to help make sure they're even. I miss picture frames with the wire across the back. They made hanging pictures so easy!
