Yay! Can't wait for Friday!

My younger sister will be in town this weekend through next week and I am so excited to have her come visit us.  I have never been the type to get home sick, but I talking on the phone gets old after awhile, it will be so much fun to take her out and show her Portland (what I know of it so far).  She'll be looking for an internship so she can hopefully return and live her this summer.
So far I have appointments for us at The Dragon Tree downtown and plan to do a little shopping.  I think we are going to take her to Portland City Grill on Sunday and other than that I haven't figured much else out.  I guess if she'll be here this summer we'll have plenty more time to explore.

Anyone ever been to Crater Lake?  Can you camp there?  I want to go there this summer, it looks so beautiful!

  • OMG, I'm sorry about the horrible grammar I used above....I was on the phone with MIL and trying to post at the same time, oops!
  • Have a great time w/ your sister!
Crater Lake is amazing. I've camped there a few times and have had a great time. I think we've always stayed at the Mazama campground (there is one other campground as well). Neither of them take reservations, but they have a lot of spots so odds of getting a site are pretty good.

  • Diamond lake is nearby and does take reservations.  The lake battle algea blooms though and will close to swimming in the hotter summer days when the bloom is toxic...but it's still a great campground and very close to drive and explore Cater lake.

The hiking trail down to the lake warns you that you must be in good enough shape to climb 77 flights of stairs to get back out.  My DH (fiance at the time) and I laughed that off and strolled on down...laughing at all the 'resting' benches on the way down.

Ya, then we hiked it back out and I swear to you we sat on every single resting bench on the way out!  It was BRUTAL!  We have no desire to ever, EVER hike down again!
