Hey fellow Bend nestie! I think I chatted with you a bit last year sometime... your bio looks familiar.
Anyways... I saw that you're building a house! Congrats! Have they started yet?
Re: **laidbackgl**
Hey! We have chatted before. I have been looking at your blog.
We haven't started yet because of the snow. I am soooo over the snow already. Anyway, as soon as the weather gets a little nicer I think they will start. We are also trying to sell our current home, so if you know anyone that is looking let me know .
Are you loving your new house?
Oh my gosh! I am SO over this snow! We have 14" in our front yard! DH got about half of our driveway shoveled, but then decided it would be a great idea to build a snowman. Yeah. Good one Rod. Like everyone that comes over wants to tromp through all of that snow! And there's no way I'm going to go out there and do it
Seriously, the best thing that I ever did with this new house is start a blog. It's been so fun to go back and look at how it all came together!
Hopefully all of this snow melts soon so they can get goin! It is going to be so beautiful when it's finished! Do you mind if I ask who your builder is? It's fine if you don't want to say
That's great! I believe he has a sawcutting business on the side and does most of our street cuts for us (as long as there is only 1 Kevin Spencer in town...). Do you get to pick out your lighting, sinks, cabinets, etc or is that all up to him?
Advice... I've got 3 things. 1. If you haven't already, start a blog. 2. Take lots of pictures! 3. If your not a forward type of person, become one. Sometimes you have to be flat out blunt and borderline rude to get your point across/ get stuff done. I've had to go down to our subcontractors office at 6pm because I didn't get my closet shelves and shower door installed that day (this is after them changing the original date on me 3 times). Guess what was being installed that night at 7pm? Stuff gets done when you get in their face (ok.. not physically in there face, but you know what I mean).
Our house was supposed to take 4 months to build. We were almost exactly at 7 months. How long are they saying for yours?
I hope your house sells quickly! Have you had any showings or offers yet?
I'm not sure if we are talking about the same Kevin Spencer. Our builder does a lot of masonary stuff, and owns other businesses.
We were able to pick everything out and have everything bid on so we have a fixed price contract. They are saying 5 months to build. Right now I am in no hurry since we have to sell our house. No showings yet. I think it is mostly because of the weather.
Who built your house? Of course you don't have to answer if you don't want to .
That's great that you were able to pick everything out early. It makes it so much easier later on. They're not going to use Building Solutions as a subcontractor, are they? ::crossing fingers you say no::
Do you guys have a place lined up to live in in case your house sells and this one isn't finished yet? FYI - don't let anything tell you it's a good idea to live in a travel trailer!! Worst.idea.ever!
We went with Adaptive Homes. We were beyond thrilled with their salesman/ designer and that was the main reason we went with them. We were so sad when they let him go not even a month after we signed the contract
Where we are going to live depends on when we sell our house. If we sell it early we will just rent a place, but if we sell it closer to when our house will be finished we will try and rent our house back. The main goal right now is to sell our house.
Well, hopefully with this good weather this week you can get started on your house soon! And I'll keep my fingers crossed that your house sells quickly!
Feel free to page me if you have any questions during this whole crazy process
Thanks, is was nice chatting with you.
Tiffany--I've been following your blog for months now! I don't know if you remember me, but I'm a Phoenix Nestie who is moving to Bend in the end of May.
Anyhow, I'm glad to see that there are a couple of you on here who are in the Bend area. Hopefully I can pick your brains a little the closer we get to moving.
