In your post about Chops you said he would need to be let out every four hours.  My H and I both work so during the day there would be about 6 hours before we could let a dog out.  There are days were my sister could come let a dog out for us since she does live down the street from us but she won't be able to do it everyday.  Would this cause a problem for us adopting a dog?  Thanks so much!

Re: relentlesslylyn

  • That's only a problem with young puppies.  Since Chops is only about 3 months old, he still really needs to be able to go outside to potty every four hours during the day (he can hold it a little longer at night).  But a dog that was about 6 months old (especially a medium-large size breed) would be fine for six hours, so that would probably not be a problem to adopt (especially if you still had your sister come over a few days a week).  And of course for a dog that's closer to a year old (and anything older) is fine being left alone for 8ish hours during the day, so it would not cause a problem for you in the least :)

HTH and let me know if you have any other questions :)
  • That is what Dh and I were thinking.  I want to make sure that we get a dog at the right time and also a dog that will be forgiving with our schedules.  Thanks!
