Hey, I wasn't sure if you saw my response in the other post since it got kinda hijacked. Anyway, you must be really excited about the home check! That's usually one of the last parts of the adoption process. Is it for that puppy Calvin? I remember his picture was so cute (and I love the name)!
Re: Goin2Chapel2
People are so rude.
so what exactly happens at a home visit? Any tips for me? ; ) It's not Calvin, but I wanted him!!! It's through the yorkie rescue, I was in contact with them. I will let you know how things go!!!
The home visit isn't usually a big deal. They go all through your house with you, making sure you were truthful on your application, looking for any hidden dangers you may have missed, and generally making sure you're a good fit for the dog.
Just an FYI - don't be offended if you are not selected to adopt the dog. It isn't personal. Rescues always put the best interest of the animal first, so even if there's nothing wrong with your application or home visit, if they don't feel like it's the perfect fit for the dog, they won't place it with you. I suspect this happens especially with small dog rescues like yorkies since they can be more difficult to come by because of the dangers of breeding them, so they frequently get several applications for one dog. Good luck
