romantic getaway ideas?

looking into a weekend getaway to WI or IN that has romantic cabins in a secluded area with in-room jacuzzi for two :0)  We want to relax, get massages, nice dinner, maybe walk around town to shop.  Any recommendations?  No more than 2 hour drive from western burbs.

Re: romantic getaway ideas?

  • I have never been there, but I think Brown County in Indiana has a lot of what you are looking for.  I have several friends who went there and loved it.
  • Lake Geneva, WI
    Saugatuck (sp?), MI

never been but heard good things about Galena and Geneva (sp?)

  • This is not a secluded area.. however, DH and I went for a 1 night stay at the Herrington in Geneva, IL the day after our wedding.  They have a spa at the hotel.. they also have a really nice romantice restaurant at the hotel.  They have rooms w/ and w/out jacuzzi's.  It is located right on the Fox river and the town shops are w/in walking distance.  I really loved the place.
  • I love Galena. We were planning on returning for our first anniversary, but our plans have since changed, so we're thinking 1st and a half anniversary. :-)

Eagle Ridge Resort gets a lot of raves, and we stayed at the Goldmoor Inn, which is quite possibly the most amazing place I've ever stayed. Everything there was fantasic.

I've heard lots of great things about Lake Geneva, though I can't speak from experience.

  • Eagle Ridge in Galena is great.  There are lots of fun shops and great restaurants downtown.
  • We love Lake Geneva......that's where we got engaged and we went there the weekend after our wedding. We've stayed at The Cove, and also the Grand Geneva....that has a spa!

They aren't secluded cabins though, but the town is cute and has lots to see/do. If the weather is nice, the lake is fun.
