Restaurant rec's?

Re: what to do in Lake Geneva??

  • eh, not sure you'll find a hotel there less than $100 but I could be wrong...
Lake Geneva is a great place to just relax and just walk around the streets with all the little stores, sit by the lake, etc.  I *think* there are golf areas up there.

I'm pretty sure if you google Lake Geneva, WI there's websites with all kinds of goodies.

  • When are you going?  The activities will obviously depend on the time of year.  There are things you can do on the lake in the summer - boat rides, etc. - that you cannot do now.  There are a bunch of shops to check out in the town.  You can also go to the spa.  I always stay with friends who have a house on the lake and we bbq, so I do not have recommendations for hotels or restuarants. I agree that it would be difficult to find a hotel for under $100 there.
  • I went last year for my bday weekend which was in April.  Obviously there is not much to do on the lake during April, but you can still get off season rates on hotels.  They are all pretty much over $100.   Especially if you want to be close to downtown where you can walk around.  We ended up staying out of town and had a blast.  We stayed at the Abbey Resort and Spa which is really nice.  I wanted to stay at place with a spa and it was really fun.  There are several resturants and bars in the resort and so we didn't have to leave the resort at all.  We did go to a "local" bar one night and it was within walking distance.  Downtown has more resturants, bars and lots of little shops.  Fun for the day.  If you are going when it is warm there ar etons of water activities.

Do a search of the hotels, resorts and even b&b's (if you like that idea).  Then definately read reviews on the place you are considering.  Some look good but had bad reviews.
