Favorite Mackinac Island hotel/B&B?

Looking into the Grand Hotel- but not sure we want to spend the $$$$.  Other thoughts?

Although the Grand is beautiful - it is alot of money and is off the beaten path, so to speak.  We stayed at a place in town and we actually went to the grand and used the pool for a day (had to pay - but it was nice).  We also ate at one of the golf course cafes along the road there.    I loved it there and although I liked where we stayed - there were two other places that we checked out - which we said we'd stay at next time.  I have to look them up for you!  I just got done telling DH that I HAVE to go up there next year for the Lilac festival, something I've always wanted to do.

My family would rent houses there when we were growing up, but we'd always go to one nice dinner at the Grand Hotel each vacation.  I've always wanted to stay there.

Amy- I just checked and the week that we are looking at is the Lilac Festival!  I need to get on the hotel search asap!  (I've got a conference in Traverse City and we are looking for a few extra days in Mackinac as a mini-vacation)

Funny, I was just telling DH that I want to try to get up there this summer.  He's never been, but I love it.  I've always wanted to stay at the Grand, too.  I have no idea where we stayed; it has been years.  I can find out for you.  There is some race (maybe an 8k) that's during the Lilac Festival, so I was going to try to sway DH with that. 

Try posting on the Travel Board, too.  Those chicks have been everywhere.....5 times.

O.k...so when is the Lilac Festival? Lilacs are my favs!!!!!!

Lilac Festival is in early June.

We are looking at going June 9-12.  DH's parents live in Grand Haven on Lake Michigan- so we are going there first for the weekend- then up to Mackinac from the 9-12 and then to Traverse City for a conference for me. 

The Grand Hotel was over $1700 for those 3 nights and it isn't a weekend!

We always stay at the Grand.  They have great packages and the prices normally include breakfast and dinner and a professional photo, you can go to High Tea, if you'd like.
