Traffic driving from NYC to LI on Xmas Eve?

Is there a lot of traffic driving from NYC to LI on Xmas eve? I'm debating whether to take the train or to drive.

Our baby will be 7 months old by Xmas and we'll have a lot of stuff to cart around too :/

Re: Traffic driving from NYC to LI on Xmas Eve?

  • My instinct is to say yes.......
  • well, eve is on a monday this year so many companies are closed which will reduce traffic immensely but it will probably still suck between 2pm and 8pm. just basing this on past commutes home. where on li are you going? nassau, suffolk, queens or brooklyn? and yes-the last 2 are on long island.
