Hair question

Next Saturday is when DH and I are going to his ROTC Cadet ball.  I am trying to figure out how I want to fix my hair.  My hair is not long at all, it's only just above my shoulders with some layers, so not alot of options there.  I had thought about making an appointment to get my hair done but I don't want to go really far with it.  And I also thought about doing it myself.  Some of the things I have considered was keeping it smooth and pulling the front back wit bobby pins or curling it and then pulling it back with bobby pins.  I don't really want the same look I have every day.  So should I  spend the money to get someone else to do it or should I just do it myself?
Siggy coming soon....

Re: Hair question

  • I would just do it myself, but maybe that's because of all of the bad experiences I had with hair trials for the wedding, haha.

I think your idea will probably work well. You'd be surprised how much just a small change can really make you look "made-up." For the wedding we went to recently, all I did was change the part in my hair since it's too short to do anything, and I think it made a big difference.

  • My hair is about the same as yours, and when I was in a wedding in November I hot rolled all of my hair and left it in until it was cool. Then, I swept it back into a ponytail at the nape of my neck, keeping the peices around my face soft and used bobby pins to pin my curls around my hair elastic into a pretty basic chignon. Just be sure to sort of pin the curls in the direction they're wanting to go, and pin the curls in every direction so it goes all the way around the ponytail. KWIM?

It ended up looking really pretty :)

You could also do a little pompadour... Wear your hair straight, then take the section in the middle and tease it, then smooth it all back and pin it down... Sort of like a fauxhawk? idk how to explain.

  • I thought about doing the fauxhawk.  I may experiment and see how it goes.

And AM, do you have a pic of what you're talking about of the ponytail thing?

    Siggy coming soon....
  • not of the back of my hair :( I have a pic sort of on the side, but it looked like how a lot of girls wear their hair on their wedding day. I'm going to look on the knot to see if I can find a pic.

edit: it ended up looking sort of like this, but without the veil. I wore a the hairpin in mine that I wore on my wedding day.
