First appt today!

What a ton of information! I kinda felt frustrated because I've been thinking I'm eating the right things and taking the right supplements.....and I"m not! I think they should have these info sessions a little bit earlier! For example, I was told "don't eat fish from Michigan lakes"....apparently its "don't eat certain fish in general because they are ALL high in mercury". I totally ate a really bad kind on saturday because I made sure it wasn't from a Michigan lake! I know I"m being over dramatic but I kinda feel like I was left alone to screw this all up...I just wish they would have given me the info right away when I found out I was pregnant, instead of making me wait a month. Now I'm worrying a ton more than I should have too! Also, the change my due date for the third time.

The GOOD news...I get to have extra ultrasounds because I had a LEEP procedure 4 years ago. The nurse said, I'll probably get to find out the sex really early!

YAY!

Re: First appt today!

  • The fish thing suprises me they did not tell you. I have heard that for most of my life and when I went in for our TTC apointment she pretty much told me to stay away from fish all together. Even while TTC. I am sure there is nothing to worry about.
  • Yep, I was only told to stay away from the fish in Michigan lakes...I"m really bummed because I LOVE fish.
  • I agree with you that the first appointment should be a bit earlier. Not everyone is on PNVs if they didn't make an appointment to discuss TTC. I wouldn't worry about the fish you ate on Saturday, I'm sure one time isn't a big deal at all. That's awesome news about getting extra ultrasounds. Up until last week, I had only had my 20 week ultrasound.
  • I almost wish they would send you a list of dos and don'ts when you schedule your appointment.

There is a list of fishes in safe to eat in the book Your Pregnancy week by week......love this book.

Yea to extra ultrasounds!!I have had 3.....totally not normal but way fun.  First was at 12 weeks, couldn't get heartbeat with doppler, so did a quick u/s to check.  Second was the typical 20 weeks.  Then had a third at 24 weeks.  My little girl was a spaz at her 20 week u/s so we needed a follow up to finish measurements.  I was a nerd and teared up everytime I got to see her
Enjoy it all!  Hope you are feeling well!

  • I second the book Your Pregnancy Week by Week. You should definitely get this book if you haven't already. Also at some point you should pick up a book called Baby Bargains. You may have already heard of it but it's a book that rates baby products (not safety ratings but by quality and value). Really comes in handy when registering.
  • I agree with Stacie on both books.  Pregnancy Week by Week was my favorite book aswell!
  • The list of foods you cannot eat grows each year. More than half of the things on the list were not there when I had my 1st son 5 years ago. Its crazy.
Yay on the extra Ultrasound! Good Luck with your pregnancy!
