Dress Alterations/Bachelorette party "accessories"

Hi ladies! Hope everyone had a nice Easter.

Just a couple of questions for you...

Does anyone know of a good alteration shop around the Lansing area? I'm a bridesmaid in an out of town wedding soon and need to get the dress altered (just the length and straps, nothing too complicated).
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)

Also, the moh for this wedding is coming to visit soon and wants us to go shopping together to get "accessories" for the upcoming bachelorette party..
We will be going barhopping, we already have our matching bedazzled "bridesmaid" t-shirts, she wants to get her one of those veils and those oh so klassy necklaces & straws, etc.  (Not really my cup of tea, but it's what the bride wants) :) Anyway, I have no idea where to find this kind of stuff..Anyone know? TIA :)

Re: Dress Alterations/Bachelorette party "accessories"

  • I'm not sure about the alterations.  I got my wedding alterations done at Lett's Bridal.

For the accessories - Try Spencers Gifts, Party USA (I think they changed thier name again) it's the party supply store in Frandor and there's on in the west side of town.  There's also a party store in the Edgewood shopping area by Office Max.

  • Nu the Tailor on Waverly just passed... Mt. Hope I believe. Both myself and H have had stuff done there. They do impeccable work at a very reasonable price. For instance, it was $26 to get my business suit hemmed, sleeves shortened (which meant buttons and button holes had to move) and the pant legs taken in. Plus they get stuff back to you in like 3 days. It's great.

  • I second Nu the Tailor.  It is located on waverly just north of st joseph, near quality dairy.

  • Spencers is definately a good idea for "accessories."  There's one in the Meridian Mall that you might want to try looking at.  Otherwise there's always ebay.  That's where I got a lot of my wedding supplies.  Best of luck!
  • Priscilla's on Saginaw, just West of the GM plants and East of Waverly, is an 'adult store'.  They have a ton of novelty 'accessorries' for both bachelor and bachelorette parties.  Also, while you are there you could pick the bride up some sexy gift for her party.  You can stop at 1 place and get 2 things done.  lol

I can't remember the name of the place I got my alterations done.  Something like Silver Thread...  They moved and are now out on the Southwest corner of Lake Lansing and Wood St. near Eastwood.  I absolutely loved the ownder and it was super cheap.

  • Thanks so much ladies :)
