MOM's.... need your help

Ok... So my SIL is having a baby and im throwing her baby shower... Which I was all excited about but now im starting to wonder...
I got her registry information to put in her invites and wasnt what i expected... they are all about organic, chemical free, etc. But there is very little on their registry... mainly things like mattress covers, breast supplies, books, etc. Nothing big, and really nothing to put together a good gift...
Im not one to follow the whole organic thing, I understand it a little .. but I believe that some people take it too far..

My problem and question is .. what do I get her??? I know I could just get the stuff from the registry and im sure this makes me look bad.. but I just dont want to buy breast pads and canning jars.. ya know.. I had every intention of getting them a stroller or car seat, etc.. but they dont want that becuase they are getting handme downs...

Sorry for the book.. advice is appreciated!

Re: MOM's.... need your help

  • Hey Sabrina!

Breast pads and canning jars would definitely be an ackward gift! Will she give you anymore ideas? If not, maybe books, diapers, or even savings bonds. Hope that helps!

  • I know that when I had Noah I rather had people buy me things I needed and could use.  Maybe you could compromise, you could get some things from her registry and some things that you would like to get her that aren't off her registry.  You could do a giant gift basket!  You could have it be an organic/natural theme.  Babies R Us has some awesome organic/natural stuff.  (I'm very into that whole organic thing.  lol)  If you go to babiesrus.com and search organic, you will get a ton of results.  I love almost all of it!  I know that she would appreciate it too.  They even have high chairs, bouncers, pack n plays made with organic material.  I especially love the SwaddleMe Adjustable Infant Wraps.  I had about 5 or 6 of them and used all of them all the time.  Most babies like being swaddled.  You can buy organic crib sheets, changing pad covers, clothes, wash cloths, towels, body wash, lotion... seriously tons of stuff right from Babies R Us.  If you have anymore specific questions, I'm here!  Good luck!

  • I registered for breast pads and dh also registered for random things like batteries, just to see who would buy them :)  Anyway.....gift cards are always nice.  I would maybe get a couple of things and maybe a couple of gift cards.....maybe ones for mommy to places like target, starbucks, barnes.  Or a certificate for a night of babysitting and a restaurant gift card for mommy and daddy to have a date night.

  • My first suggestion would be a gift card to wherever they registered at. That way they can use it towards whatever they don't get that they really want. If you don't want to do a gift card, you could fill a laundry basket with essentials such as diapers, wipes, maybe some Dreft, etc.
  • When I have kids, I want people to buy me books. Do you know how expensive books are these days? Upwards of $8-$9 per board book. It's crazy. And those are very important as the child gets older :o) ...can you tell I'm a teacher? hehe!

  • Thanks ladies for your help.. im still in a slump but im sure ill figure something out... Im not a giver of gift cards so it makes it hard...

Ive sent my DH on a mission to his brother... I think there may be things they need that they arent listing for various reasons.. so we will see!
