Charleston ?

Thank you ladies for all your prior help. We definitely opted with the Doubletree and booked reservations at Hank's. However, I just realized we will be in Charleston for Cinco de Mayo. I know this may be a stretch... is there a Mexican restaurant in downtown Charleston. Anything special going on? We live in Florida so it's huge here. Wasn't sure that was the case everywhere.

Re: Charleston ?

  • not big here but if you love Mexican YOU HAVE TO GO TO SANTEE'S! OMG it is so amazing. They are authentic, casual and cheap! It is in a less than desirable area downtown but is still safe to go and only the locals know about it!
  • OMG I totally agree about Santee's!!!!!!!!!

If you don't have a car and don't want to hitchhike or take a cab (it would be worth it ... promise) then Yo Burrito on Wentworth is festive enough for Cinco de Mayo, and they have great $5 double margaritas at happy hour and a decent salsa bar.

    But go.to.santee's!
  • Oh and it's Santi's if you need to google it - I always make that mistake bc there is a nearby town/river named Santee.

If you're looking on a map it's basically at the convergence of upper King, Meeting, and East Bay (Morrison) streets.  It's across the street from a huge old housing tower right near the I-26
  • LOL thanks for the spelling correction 1/3 times i get it right!
  • Sounds great! We will have a car while in town but will probably cab it after Margaritas! Thanks ladies.
  • Juanita Greenburgs on King Street is also yummy if you want to stick to downtown, it is a quick walk from your hotel.

    Kerri
