Charleston restaurant recs?

My husband and I will be visiting Charleston next month for a babymoon long weekend. While he is a real foodie who will eat anything, I have food allergies and am often limited. Does anyone have any recommendations for restaurants in Charleston that are delicious and known to be accommodating? Thanks so much!

  • if he is a foodie you need to go to FIG. Also I really love SNOB. If you are looking for a CHEAP yummy lunch and dinner go to 5 Loaves Cafe. Also a fun place to eat is The Wreck...it has the best fried shrimp! It is hard to find but is really yummy and if you go it is cash only. I will say that most places are pretty accomodating as long as it is not rush hour on a Friday or Sat. night. Oh and for breakfast try Hominy Grill...I know they are accomodating because I always create my own meal when I go there ( bowl of grits, topped with sausage gravy and two poached eggs and a biscuit on the side) hmmm now i need to go!
  • As I always suggest, Hank's near the market.  You will need reservations but it is sooooooo good.
  • I would recommend Sermet's Corner on King Street, Cypress on East Bay St., 82 Queen, and The Old Village Post House and the Boulevard Diner in Mt. Pleasant.

  • Just wanted to say thank you to everyone.  We just got back last night and had a great time.  Charleston is a beautiful city, and our meals were (for the most part) incredible!  Thanks so much for your recommendations
