Don Bliss Foundation

This is a home for orphans/abandoned children/children whose parents can't provide for them in Mombasa, Kenya. Currently, there are 8 children living at the center, and 3 living with their families, but who are supported by DBF. Also, a widow lives and works at the center with her 7 children. It was founded by Domian Simiyu and named after the man who helped Domian to get an education. Because of Bliss's generosity, Domian was able to get an education and become a pastor and high school principal. He started the Don Bliss Foundation as a way to "pay it forward." There are so many other children in Mombasa who need a safe place to live, food to eat, clothes to wear, and the opportunity to go to school. However, being a small operation, with very little exposure and financial support, DBF is struggling to support even these few children.

DH and I hold this charity close to our hearts for a number of reasons. It has been his dream to help get the children off the streets of Mombasa, feed them, love them, send them to school. Domian is a friend of ours who opened this home for children without even knowing of DH's heart for them. In a few years, DH and I will be moving to Mombasa, to take over running this home. In the meantime, we are working on making contacts, networking, and registering as a charitable non-profit in the US so that we will have the financial support base we need to make this home a haven for even more children in the future.
