Planning Trip to Charleston Area In March

Hey Ladies!  Greetings from Philadelphia!
My hubbie and I are planning a trip to the Charleston Area in March.
We want to hit up downtown, Patriots Point, and I think stay in Folly Beach.
We are still looking online for a good rental and all that fun stuff.
Just wonder if you have any suggestions on where to stay eat and play!!
Thanks!!!

Re: Planning Trip to Charleston Area In March

  • Folly Beach only has one hotel so unless you are going to rent a house you should probably plan to stay downtown or in Mt. Pleasant.  Do a carriage tour, they are awesome and give you a great history lesson.  Have dinner at Hank's (reservations required).
  • thanks!  after posting i acually read thru the board and i see you guys get hit up a lot with the same questions.

i've been looking at rentals at the beach and b&bs in charleston too.  i see that someone mentioned the andrew pickney inn, that looks so cute.

    thanks for your help!

  • I have a friend that works at a new B&B on Folly and its so cute... heres a website....

  • I wouldn't stay in Mt Pleasant - I'd either go downtown to be in the middle of things or to Folly or Sullivan's Island for the beach getaway.

I love Taco Boy on Folly :)

I just posted a long response about Charleston restaurants on the Travel board.

My favorite tourist attractions by far are the Ft Sumter boat tour and rowing boats in the blackwater swamp at Cypress Gardens.  As an alternative to a carriage ride you can hire a rickshaw (pedi-cab) for a private tour.

If you plan on shopping, make sure you hit Upper King St as well! (between Calhoun St and Spring St) - lots of great local shops/artisans.
