Relocation help...
Hi ladies- we are moving to Charelston (hopefully!) and I found this listing on Craigslist- anyone know if this area of downtown is okay? We have a baby so I don't want to live in an unsafe area, but I really like the idea of downtown... The listing says Woodall Court at President street? TIA~

honestly downtown changes from one block to another but i can tell you that President Street is not one of the safe streets. If you are looking for downtown you want to stay almost at the tip of the pensulia (sp?) nothing farther north than Calhoun St. in my opnion.
if you want just outside of downtown but still maintain that cool downtown vibe i would look in South Windermere, Burns Down, Avondale, Ashley Forrest. All are minutes from downtown and are walking distance to rest. and bars and shops. plus are great for walking with the baby.

I totally agree with the pp. Even when I lived on Montagu St. (south of Calhoun) I still had problems.
Oh and when I was looking for a place to rent, most landlords told me to drive by first...that was b/c I wouldn't want to live there after I just saw the outside and neighboring homes!
Downtown is awesome, but it takes a lot to find a good spot.
