Getaways in SC?

I'd love some advice on great weekend getaways in SC!  DH is majorly stressed at work and our holidays didn't really feel like a holiday, so I'm looking into some nearby getaway options to give him a little relaxation time.  We are in Charleston and I'd like to not travel more than 3 hours so that if we took a 3-day weekend, we wouldn't spend the whole time driving.  Thanks!

  • What about Savannah? Some people love it and some hate it. I know DH and I are planning to visit there sometime around Valentine's Day this year.

Good to see someone else from Charleston. We live in West Ashley.

  • Since you live in Charleston you are probably sick of the beach.  You could try a b&b in the foothills.  Hilton Head is a little expensive (IMO) but it's definitely a good weekend trip.  Or you could come to Columbia for a few days and perhaps meet some of us Columbia nesties. (teehee)
  • Dufuskie Island just outside of Hilton Head is amazing! If you are looking for R&R this is a great place with amazing amenities. Also look at Beaufort they have some really cute B&B's.

  • I would have to recommend Georgetown.  It's basically just one little street but it's so cute. We stay at the Harbor House B&B. There is an upscale restaurant called Rice Paddy. It's very good. There is also a little theater on Front Street. It only takes an hour or so to get there from Charleston.

There is also a B&B in Conway that's a farmhouse. I haven't been but I'd like to go. They do the murder mystery thing there.

We did not enjoy our stay in Hilton Head, but we enjoyed the hotel. It's a charming inn called Main Street Inn. Look it up! It's beautiful! We ate at an awesome place called Aqua; fabulous food. Other than the hotel and food, we hated everything about HH, unfortunately.

Also, we enjoy going to Columbia and staying downtown in the historic district.

Have you  been to Asheville? I can recommend a wonderful place there named FIG. It's the best food we've ever eaten. I don't like duck, but I tasted DH's and it was amazing.
