Anyone familiar with Spartenburg?

Can you tell me what its like in that area? Good, bad?

Re: Anyone familiar with Spartenburg?

  • spartanburg. big city, like greenville. i don't go over that way much. too crazy for me.
  • My parents moved to Spartanburg in the past few years and they really like the area they live in (Converse Heights). They just did an enormous amount of revamping in the downtown area, too, and that is the sole reason I have agreed to have my wedding there. I grew up in Greenville, though, and am far more partial to it. G-ville has all the great shopping, restaurants, a better job market... not to mention more housing options than you could ever imagine. Spartanburg has a more industrial look. Its what you like, really, but the upstate as a whole is a great place to live and quite friendly on the wallet.
  • My fiance and I moved to Spartanburg 2 years ago - me from NYC and he from California.  We chose Spartanburg because we loved our ability to purchase a historic downtown home that is within walking distance to Main Street.  True, our Main Street isn't as developed as Greenville's Main Street, but there are some passionate people and some great orgainizations working to change that.  A great organization to contact regarding housing is the Preservation Trust of Spartanburg  http://www.preservespartanburg.org/
