Stroller friend hiking trails?

Not really hiking but places we can go for long walks in "nature" with the kids? We go to Radnor a lot, but I think we should start exploring. Our strollers can go off road, but more like gravel roads not climbing rocks.

Any suggestions?

TIA

Re: Stroller friend hiking trails?

  • I was going to say Radnor. I think there are some paved trails in Percy Warner too. There's a nice part of Percy that is in Belle Meade (will have to ask DH where exactly) that starts in a wide open park, but then there's a loop up and around a big hill in the forrest. The other trail in Percy I've been to is off Hwy 100 near Old Hickory. There was a trail we found that wound around the hills and overlooked the Steeplechase horse area.
  • The greenway in Sylvan Park is really pretty as well as the one in Murfreesboro and Donelson near Percy Preist Lake. I really enjoy getting out on the greenways and they are paved.
  • The Warner Parks definitely have some great paved trails.  You can do the one off 100 and Old Hickory or the one the PP mentioned in Belle Meade is at the end of Belle Meade Blvd.
  • the warner parks have paved roads that run all the way through them, it is wonderful! And it is a nice walk, you can also take kids to the nature center there if they are old enough to appreciate it. My mom did that and then took us on the trails and we would spend the whole time looking for specific flowers and so on.

  • I love the Sylvan Park (Richland Creek) greenway.  It is right by my house.  I see families all the time with strollers, kids on bicycles, etc.  Here is a link to the Nashville greenways:

  • I like in Mt. Juliet, and there is a trail you can pick up at the Kohls in Hermitage and walk all the way to Percy Priest lake.  I can't remember what it is called.  It's a really nice walk on a paved trail. It is right next to the river, so you are walking next to water most of the time.  Tons of kids ride bikes, people push strollers, run, walk, etc.  It's really nice since it isn't always flat.  It has some hills, etc. and its mostly shaded!
