Help! Need ideas for entertaining young kids in Nashville

I'm the mom of a 3-year old and a 3 week old. My best friends from Kentucky are coming down tomorrow and bringing a 5-year old and a 2-year old for a 2-day stay. I'm afraid that outdoor activities such as the zoo may be out because of the forecast of rain. Besides things like the science museum and the jump places what activities in the area would be good for kids this age?

Also, is the science museum good for this age? I've not been since 6th grade!

TIA,

Sarah

  • if the weather is like today the zoo can be great because not a lot of visitors so you can see everything. There is also a new place in Bellevue called the Monkey's Tree House that is supposed to be great for kids.

It is outdoors but my kids love going to radnor lake and looking for wildlife

  • Check out the Nashville Public Library website for their events - they have awesome story time hours on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and they also have marionnette shows on Fridays and Saturdays.  Everything is free.  I took my 9 month olds to storytime this morning - and it was so good that they even paid attention (which says a lot).  They incorporate a lot of songs, puppets, and other things - it appeals to all ages.  Davis Kidd at Green Hills Mall also has a storytime, as well as a great play area.  I've heard the Christ Church Kidpark off of Old Hickory is fun as well.
  • Thanks for the ideas. I think The Monkey's Treehouse is just what I was looking for. I'm hoping that the rain will hold off and we can go to the zoo but if we're not that lucky this will be great!
