Weekend trip ideas--close to Nashville

DH and I are wanting to take a mini vacation the end of April. We aren't wanting to drive very far. Do any of you have ideas? We live in Nashville. Thanks!

Chattanooga is a great town for a weekend trip. There is the aquarium, Rock city, a great downtown area and tons of other stuff to do. We love it there! Louisville and Lexington are also a nice place to visit.

You can get to Atlanta in about 4 hours. Or go to the mountains - Pigeon Forge area (I have never been so can't directly recommend) or even to Asheville, NC and the Biltmore House within 4-5 hours, I think.

Oh, and Memphis is only 3 hours.

We went to Gatlinburg a couple weeks ago and it is perfect for a weekend trip.  It is about 3 hours and we loved staying in the mountains.

Asheville's doable.  DH and I did it this winter for our anniversary.  Gas plus luxury B&B plus swanky dinners out plus Biltmore admission made for about a $1k weekend.  If you want to stay somewhere cheaper, I'm sure you could make it more affordable lol!  If you want to splurge, the Black Walnut B&B is absolutely fantastic.  (Definitely take their recs for restaurants - they know what they're talking about.)

I concur on the Asheville recs. That's where hubby proposed at the Biltmore. Lots of great dining choices and things to do. Go to Moose Cafe for breakfast.
