Hey ladies! My hubby and I are traveling to Abdingon in a few weeks, and I'm looking for info - anything at all you can tell me about the town! What it's like, where to stay, where to eat, what to do, etc.
We live in Nashville and are wanting to walk in the Preeclampsia Foundation Awareness Walk this year - and Abdingon has the closest one, believe it or not! (Speaking of, if anyone has any interest in the Walk, its the Saturday of Mothers' Day weekend!)
Thanks ladies!
Re: Abdingon, VA?
I recommend seeing a show at the Barter Theater if you have time. Its great!
Also, do yourself a favor and stay at the Martha Washington Inn.

It is beautiful. My brother and his wife stayed there for part of their honeymoon.
Hello! Want to second the Barter theater and the Martha Washington. Staying at the Martha Washington would give you the opportunity to walk around the little town and go shopping in all the shops (lots of boutiques and one of my absolute favorite antiques store - it about 4 or 5 floors! believe the name is Zephyr). If you get a chance eat at Alison's Restaurant. Sometimes it can be hit and miss, but when it's good..it's good and prices aren't too insane. Also, I love the Ice Cream Stop and it's only open seasonally but should be open by the time you go if it isn't open already. It's a bit of a drive from the center of town, but it's definitely good ice cream (and milkshakes I believe) for a really cheap price!! Let me know if you have any other questions.
ETA: As for what it's like..it's small compared to Nashville, but very beautiful and it's safe. So those are all great things. People inside the center of town tend to be very friendly, they love tourists! As you get farther out (if you went to the K-mart or something for example) you may start to get a few looks since people are wondering who you are, etc. But it's generally a nice and relaxing place to visit with lots of historical sights to see as well as a decent amount of places to eat and shop in the town.
