Long shot question: Summer Camps

anyone know of any good all day daycamps in the area for tweens...preferably arts/drama/music themeed.  It seems most of them are either morning or afternoon programs and I'm not willing to drive 45 min to drop her off just to turn around and pick her up 3 hours later...

Re: Long shot question: Summer Camps

  • I think the latest Williamson county (or Davidson county since they're essentially the same) Parents magazine (the free one) had a whole section on summer camps. Maybe she could do one of the half day programs with a friend and you and the other mom could carpool or something?
  • check out the nashville scene...this week's issue, they have a camp guide in the middle section.
  • thanks. All the ones in williamson parent were either geared to younger kids or were 9-11 or 1-3 type programs....
  • What about the local prep schools? Doesn't SD go to one? I know Montgomery Bell had sports camps, so wonder if some of the others might have a drama type program? Otherwise, I'm out of ideas.. :)
  • Dawn-

St. cecelia's looked good but it seems to only be a couple hours a day too.... i guess they assume mother's don't work or something.... I can always send her to overnight camp again

  • The YMCA always has camps.
  • I saw an ad in Sunday's paper for arts camp at Franklin Road Academy. Not sure if it's a half day though...?
  • Watkins College of Art & Design have summer camps.  Some of my student attend and really enjoy it.  They are in kindergarten but there are camps through teens.  I think they are half day sessions but you can sign up for a morning & afternoon session if you like.

The Nashville Children's Theatre also has summer drama camps for pre-K through 12th grade.  They are all day.
