Hi we are planning a trip to Nashville in late March. I am looking for recommandations on things to do, such as activities, shopping or must see things-- we are staying at the Renaissance. Any suggestions on things to do would be helpful! Also what will the weather be like?
Re: 1st time to Nashville
End of March should be pretty warm. Maybe 70s or so. But it is a wishy washy month! You just never know!
Let's see, if you're into Civil War/old homes, there is Belle Meade mansion, pretty close to downtown. It's really neat. I would go to the Grand Old Opry, just to say you've been. Sometimes some really great pop artists play there unexpectedly. There is a big outlet mall called Opry Mills, but Green Hills has a lot of cute boutiques and a nice mall.
Downtown Nashville has a lot within walking distance. Country music hall of fame, the Predators hockey, tons of bars and such, and great restaurants.
HTH!
Belle Meade is great, but Cheekwood is amazing! It was built during the depression by a family who owned Maxwell House, I believe. They have botanical gardens, and a really beautiful museum/gallery in the mansion.
You might want to see our parthenon too. It has a replica of Athena inside a lovely garden area.
There is a new shopping block in Greenhills, as well as Nashville West on Charlotte.
If you haven'y been to Opryland Hotel, they have some beautiful gardens as well, there is also the Grand Ole Opry over there, and the General Jackson (showboat).
Another fun area is Hillsboro Village near Vanderbilt Unversity. It has some great little boutiques and the Belmont theater, which shows a lot of Indy films, and that.
Hope you enjoy your stay!
