are the roads really bad....

it doesn't look like anything happened here, but school is canceled

Re: are the roads really bad....

  • Not at all. The highway was surprisingly not bad. I was expecting the terrible drivers to be out in full force, but I made it to work in almost record time. I took a little extra caution on ramps and bridges but even those were not slick. It may be getting a little worse out there now with all the snow though. Davidson County still has school.

  • Nope.  I didn't even hit one patch of remotely slick road on the way to work.  Everyone in my office is fascinated by the fluffy snow flakes and are busy looking out the windows.

  • School is cancelled in Williamson Co because many students live in rural areas where very little wintry weather can make the roads bad (lots of shady areas and no traffic to keep the ice/snow clear).  School is cancelled much more frequently in outlying areas than in the metro area--that's just how it works.

  • I drove in on some 2 lane neighborhood streets that were very slick.  The car definitely slid in several places.  Coming in on Nolensville Rd, people were driving SIX mph - I checked.
  • I live on a farm out in Franklin....the roads are VERY bad out where I live. My car was sliding everywhere, so I went home & got the 4x4. I at least have a better chance in that. I have a lot of appointments & all are off the beaten path today. We aso have more snow....we have a good 1/2 inch at my place right now, and some places barely have a dusting. The road in front of my house is a pure sheet of ice...so yeh....very dangerous!
  • I was wondering why school was canceled today as well.  My husband works at a private Catholic school in Belle Meade and I work for a lady who teaches there.  When I got to her house, she was like its a snow day!  We were all shocked.  But its probably worth it as so many kiddos are sick right now.
