Pediatrician recs?

I guess it's on the list to start interviewing them! Didn't really cross my mind until my doctor asked yesterday if we had chosen one! Eek!

Anyone have a great one in the Franklin/Brentwood area?

Re: Pediatrician recs?

  • Dr. Forbess!! She is the best. I checked out so many different pedis and she was by far my fav. She always has time for her patients. My husband and I were in Arizona and DS got sick so I had no idea where to go and in the middle of the night I called her office and she called me back within 5 minutes and told me exactly what to do. She is a bit old fashion but she is great with our choice not to vaccinate (one of the very few in the area). She is right beside Maryland Farms Y in the Crylike(SP?) building on the 3rd floor. Her office is very clean and personal. The name of her practice is Brentwood pediatric and her number is 615-661-4256. My son was 4.5 weeks early and she helped me so much. I actually at one point tried the other pedi down the road (less than half mile away) right off Old Hickory and the nurse treated me like crap but I have to say the dr was amazing... the only issue is when you call in 99% of the time you have to talk to the nurse so its nice to have someone who really cares. I am pretty sure they are still taking new patients but Im sure they are filling up quick. I would call and make get a time to just sit and talk so you can ask her any of the questions you might have. If you need anything or have any questions just email me. amberlyann2005@yahoo.com
  • Sorry one more thing. Also probably the best thing about the office is that you can usually get in very quickly and you never have to wait on hold.

  • We actually use Dr. Forbess too! I was just going to recommend her, so it was surprising to see someone else who uses her. We've been with her since she was with Centennial Pediatrics down the road when my son was born in Sept. 04. She's now opened her own practice, Brentwood Peds as the PP mentioned. We'll be using her for our new baby too. We've stuck with her even though its a good 25+ minute drive for us, but it's been worth it. We actually have friends who use her too and love her and don't mind the drive. We're all in the Hermitage/Mt. Juliet area, so it's not terribly convenient. But, our OB recommended her way back when and we've been pleased. Good luck!

  • we go to harpeth pediatrics. I've been very happy there. We always get in right away when the kids are sick which is important to me. Dr. Binney is our primary doc, but I like the PA there too. We saw the new ped last week when DS1 announced he had an ear ache at 4pm (we got an appt the same day) and he was really good with DS1 (Dr. Huss)
  • PS it is right at the new mcewen exit in cool springs
  • Thanks girls! I will definitly be checking them both out! I am interested in Dr. Forbes, because I am still on the fence about vaccinating and I don't want a Dr. who will push it on us if we decided not to do it. Thanks!

  • Another rec. for Harpeth Peds on Mallory Lane off of the new McEwen exit.  My OBGYN recommended him and the practice--DS's doc is Dr. Huss and we just love him and his nurse Mary.  He was out of town when DS was born so we ended up meeting all of the other doctors while in the hospital from the practice and each one was excellent.  DS had RSV at about 2.5 months old and Dr. Huss called every day for nearly a week checking in on him.  The office was great about us 'interviewing' him....we met with him for about 30 minutes about a month before DS was born.

I have read through the Nashville Birth Network rave reviews of the doctor at Cool Springs Family Care (also on Mallory, across from the highschool near the sonic and blue coast burrito)--very supportive of not vaccinating and not circumcising if any of those things are important to you.
